Steam

Steam supply for business on Jurong Island
Our customers on Jurong Island use different types of steam for a wide range of industrial applications.
Sembcorp creates value by producing steam for customers on Jurong Island from the waste collected by our solid waste management business. By using the steam recovered from Sembcorp’s energy-from-waste value chain, our customers are able to lower their carbon footprint as they need not burn oil or natural gas to make their own.
We have the capacity to generate 1,860 tonnes per hour of steam through our energy-from-waste facilities on Jurong Island. These plants provide our customers an economical and sustainable source of energy.

Sembcorp Energy-from-Waste Plant @Sakra, Jurong Island
First facility in Singapore to use industrial and commercial waste as fuel to produce steam to power industrial processes.

Sembcorp Woodchip Boiler Plant @Sakra, Jurong Island
Produces steam from thermal treatment of woodchips derived from construction and demolition waste recovered by Sembcorp’s solid waste management business
To enable further recycling into alternative materials, bottom ash and fly ash are separated in both plants. In addition, Sembcorp recycles biogas generated by our industrial wastewater treatment processes to produce process steam in our boilers which contributes to more sustainable energy production.
